Graves of Daniel and Harriet Lothrop

Daniel Lothrop was an eminent publisher and
founder of the D. Lothrop Company. His wife,
Harriet, took the pen name of Margaret Sidney and
was the author of the Five Little Pepper Series and
many other books. She and her husband lived at
The Wayside and eventually also owned the
Orchard House and Grapevine Cottage. Harriet
Lothrop is credited with saving Orchard House and
Grapevine Cottage for preservation. She also
founded the National Society of the Children of the
American Revolution. Daniel Lothrop died in 1892,
Harriet in 1924.
